A pastor and his wife from Belfast, Northern Ireland shared a couple of meals and a message with our church.
Amazing to hear stories of divided cities of Belfast and Londonderry.
A Protestant and a Catholic side, with a wall down the middle separating.
From what we heard, terrorist groups from both sides are at work exploding bombs, committing acts of violence and being generally ugly towards others.
Such a festering wad of bitterness, animosity and hatred.
The pastor has been used to bring reconciliation and some healing to factions.
He also has had death threats, bombs planted, windows broken, threats uttered to him.
He however is steadfast about what the Lord has called him to there.
I suspect that we Americans would not have the ‘stick-to-it-iveness’ to endure such hardships, and to flourish.
God bless Pastor Jack and give him grace as he presses on to be a light and a bridge builder in a place that still is filled with hatred and prejudice – not based on skin color, but based on religious preference, unresolved anger, misunderstanding and fear, among other things.
