I caught this osprey in flight a year ago and took several pictures of him/her.
It was circling around near the Currituck Light House looking for fish.
At one point it did a nose dive from about 50 feet in the air, straight down into the water and came up with a wiggling fish in its talons, which it promptly took back to its nest and ate.
It was patient, it circled, it watched carefully for the right moment to make its move. And then it had success!
Reminded me of Isaiah 40:31 which says, “But those who wait on the LORD
Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.”
I know the osprey I saw is not an eagle, and I know that he was not soaring, which is what we think of with eagles.
Eagles and Ospreys are birds of prey and they have to eat like eveybody else.
In this case, the osprey’s patient waiting paid off and he had a good seafood meal!
Now that sounds like a good idea! I might just go do the same!
