The song doesn’t sound right. But, if you were to substitute antelope for bongo, it would be much better. Perhaps ‘bongo’ was the name given by Adam when he named all the creatures on the earth.
That’s what a bongo is – an antelope – and they live across much of central Africa.
I love the contrast of their pin stripes and the chestnut brown color of their coats.
God in His wisdom and creativity colored them in a way that will help them stay hidden from their predators – lions, leopards and such.
To me the bongo’s markings speak of God’s unique handiwork and infinite wisdom as He created all living things.
Romans 11:33 puts it this way, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out!”
God’s wisdom and knowledge are indeed past finding out. His creativity and insight are more complex than anything that man can dream up or concoct. What a joy it is to walk in a relationship with the most creative Being there ever was. That relationship starts now and goes on into eternity!
As I stood and watched the bongo that day, I witnessed the wonderful handiwork of our creative and wise God!
