Saying ‘Thank You’ When You’re Uptight…

You mean it’s possible?? Yes it is.  Why would I want to say thank you at that moment? Well, because if you do, things will begin to turn around for you.

Check out this scripture passage: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4: 6,7 (NKJV)

In other words, when you are uptight and things are overwhelming to you, begin to talk to God. As you start talking to Him about what it is that is bothering you, also begin to thank Him that He is with you, and that He will help you.

As you begin to thank Him, let Him know about the issue, whatever it may be, and as your heart opens up a bit, He will send some peace to you, some new perspective to you, and you will begin to see some of the load you felt, lightening.

I have seen this happen over and over in my own life. You know, when we pray, we are not praying to ourselves. Rather, we are praying to the most power Being that ever was (God), and He actually is listening to us and is eager to help us!

I don’t know about you, but I can always stand to receive a dose of that ‘peace that surpasses all understanding’. Life gets busy. Circumstances pop up that bring worry or anxiety to us. There is more month than money, or there are health issues, or this or that.

As I begin to talk to the Lord about those things, and I open my heart to Him, I begin to sense His peace. I have an ‘attitude readjustment’ and then I am able to go on, knowing that the Lord will actively help me with whatever it was that was bogging me down!

So, just another angle on saying ‘thank you’ to God on Thanksgiving Day!

Nice reminder for us. Starting out prayers with thanksgiving…even when we aren’t feeling very thankful always has a way of changing our perspective. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family!
