4 “There is a river whose streams shall make glad the city of God,
The holy place of the tabernacle of the Most High.
5 God is in the midst of her, she shall not be moved;
God shall help her, just at the break of dawn.” (Psalm 46: 4,5 NKJV)
I think of the Holy Spirit as the river that flows in the city of God. In Christ we have access to the very presence of God. We are able to go to Him with all of our ups and downs and He hears us, forgives us where necessary and refreshes us with His Spirit. Plus He makes us strong and able to resist the advances of the enemy of our souls.
10 “Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth! ” (Psalm 46:10 NKJV)
When the turbulence of life surrounds and overwhelms us we are able to find rest, peace and comfort in the Lord. He is mighty, strong and very much at work in ways we cannot see, but gladly sense.
