Parched…

1 “O God, You are my God; I shall seek You earnestly;
My soul thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a dry and weary land where there is no water.”  (Psalm 63:1, NASB)

We here in North Carolina are about 4 – 6 inches behind on rain for the year. If you look closely at this photo you see parched soil, which happens to be not far from Lake Phelps.

In addition, 20 – 30 miles away from this spot a wildfire rages near the NC coast, burning not only marsh and trees, but also sub soil peat. I have heard estimates that it would take 6 inches of rain to fully put out that fire. When the wind is blowing out of the south, we experience the smoke from that fire (often in the evenings).
