Jockey’s Ridge State Park in Nags Head, North Carolina. It’s a huge set of sand dunes. Our family went there for an evening outing last week on vacation..

There were hundreds of people on the dunes that evening. And after these few photos, my camera batteries gave up the ghost and I could not take any more photos on that outing.
From the top of the dunes we could see the ocean, the sound, Roanoke Island, and a beautiful sunset. As we watched, the big red ball gradually sank into the water in the western sky.
Some in our group even found a steep sand hill and either ran or rolled down to the bottom. Then after the sunset we traipsed back to the cars and off to our cottage. A pleasant evening indeed. It’s amazing how much entertainment a big pile of sand can bring..
