Photos taken of Bodie Island Lighthouse on 12/31/11 around 4 – 4:15 p.m.
It was a beautiful late afternoon at this spot. Unfortunately the mosquitoes were swarming also! I got a couple of bites while I was shooting. Temps were in the mid 60s, the wind was light.
There was an observatory wooden structure that was great for taking photos. As seen in the above photos, tundra swans enjoyed the protected waters here, as well as geese and ducks.
I encourage you to check out the Bodie Island Lighthouse when you are at the OBX. It is south of Nags Head on Route 12, before you get to the Oregon Inlet bridge.
Happy New Year!
