Unknown Virginia Bloom

I’m not sure what it is but it sure is pretty!

I happened upon this plant and bloom at the last rest area in Virginia as I headed north on Route 13 on the eastern shore, near the Maryland border.

I thought it was a unique looking bloom with all the folds and detail to the bloom. Perhaps you know the name of this bloom. If so, please let me know.

Beautiful! It looks like a type of camellia. Usually they bloom in winter though.
