• (Admonish, Urge & Encourage)To Remain True to the Lord – Acts 11:23
    • Don’t we all need that sometimes?

  • Encouragement of the Scriptures that we might have hope – Romans 15: 4,5; Heb 6:18
    • Hope gives us reassurance for the future.

  • When I learn of your condition – Phil 2:19
    • It brings peace of mind just to know that you’re okay!

  • Key encouragers:
    • Barnabas (son of encouragement) Acts 4:36 – He encouraged the saints to continue strong in the faith – Acts 13:43
      • The formerly Jewish believers faced a lot of pressure from the Judaizers to walk in the requirements of the OT Law
      • The formerly Gentile believers had forsaken idols and former practices. They needed reassurance that the new lifestyle they were living was worth it.
    • Timothy – In your faith – 1 Thessalonians 3:2
      • He was another key encouraging voice.

  • One another:
    • (And Exhort) Build one another up – 1 Thessalonians 5:11
      • Hang in there, don’t quit, keep on, keep trusting the Lord.
    • (Encourage Admonish & urge)That none of you would be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin – Heb 3:13
      • Sin is deceitful. We are tempted to slip in many ways. It seems so desirable and harmless before. If we slip into it and do the sin, we as believers experience the guilt or sadness that we slipped. Sin allures. Sin is deceitful. Don’t let your heart be hardened by its deceitfulness.
      • Remember Prov 4:23 – Guard your heart with all diligence for out of it are the issues of life.
      • In order to have a healthy relationship with the Lord, our hearts need to be open, pliable and accessible to the Lord. If we have erected walls and padlocks, then we have closed ourselves to the moving of the Holy Spirit.
    • (Encourage Admonish & urge) Not forsaking our assembling together – Heb 10:25
      • There is strong value in coming together for fellowship, prayer, ministry, worship of the Lord. We are like coals that need to be together in order to burn brightly.

  • When you have been encouraged by someone isn’t it a refreshing thing? Doesn’t it build you up? Don’t you feel better? Doesn’t it give you a fresh perspective when someone says to you– You’re gonna make it. Don’t give up. You have what it takes. Hang in there. You’re doing a good job.
    • If you need some encouragement today – let me encourage you. God is for you. I am for you. God loves you. Don’t be overwhelmed by the circumstances that are pressing against you. Hang in there. If you have a large task in front of you and you don’t know what to do and you feel overwhelmed. Entrust the situation to Him, and just do something. He will walk with you and help you. You are gonna make it!

  • Be an encourager to the people around you. Start with your family and close friends. Stop and take note of how they are doing, what they are saying. Give a word of encouragement. Make sure that your encouragement doesn’t turn into lecturing or scolding. Be realistic.
