I took a drive around the north and east side of Jacksonville, North Carolina and Camp Lejeune Marine Base and headed towards Swansboro. I took a little side jaunt and drove down into Hammocks Beach State Park. Here are some photos of the ferry that provides service to Bear Island, which faces onto the ocean. I didn’t take it, but apparently there are no motorized vehicles on the island. Just sand and surf, hiking, and picnicking. Enjoy the shots!

rode this many years ago to go to bear island, pretty island, pretty park too, spent my summers there as a teen ager and probably went to bear island a few times, love the water too.
Sounds like you have some fond memories of this area! It’s a beautiful spot for sure..
