Venice, Italy – The Arsenal (Ship Building Site)

The Arsenal dates back to the 12th century. By the 1600s it was the largest ship building facility in Europe.  Ships were built and naval firepower was prepared for the mighty Venetian navy. It was an industrial complex, like a ship dry dock where repairs were made to existing ships and new ships, rope and other supplies were made. Quite a place!  Enjoy the photos!
